Artist Guest of Honor

Marc Schirmeister

Marc Schirmeister

Marc Schirmeister (Schirm) is an artist whose careful lines and deft use of shade have built him the reputation which drew us to choose him.

Over the decades his illustrations and cartoons have appeared in countless Science Fiction & Fantasy books, convention publications, comics, and Fanzines.

Schirm is the co-founder of Rowrbrazzle, a furry animal cartoonists' APA. Marc provided chapter illustrations for Bill Warren's "Keep Watching the Skies! American Science Fiction Movies of the Fifties".

He's inked for "The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" comics. His professional resume is as broad as his artistic expression; he has worked in illustration at Warner Brothers, DIC, and Saban.

Marc is a long-time member of the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society. On meeting nights he is in the habit of drawing large, complex images which can either reflect an event related to the meeting or whatever whimsy takes him.

In 2006 Marc Schirmeister was awarded the Rotsler Award for his achievement in fan art by a distinguished jury of his peers. He was also nominated for the 2006 National Fantasy Fan Federation Fan Art award.

Marc lives in Pasadena, California.
